Description
This set of six “Orchestra Chairs” by Sven Markelius (b. Sweden, 1889-1972), designed in 1931 for the Helsingborg Concert Hall in Sweden, is a striking example of early modern Scandinavian design. The birch plywood seat and backrest are skillfully molded and bent for a subtle, ergonomic contour, supported by a solid wood frame.
These chairs display multiple notches and nicks, bearing the character of their history. Newly upholstered black-and-white cushions have been added for enhanced comfort, while their stackable design allows for easy storage.
